Democrat Phil Arballo Locks in Latino Victory Fund Endorsement in CA-13 Primary

Fresno, CA— Today, Democrat Phil Arballo, running in California’s 13th Congressional District, announced he has been endorsed by Latino Victory Fund. Dedicated to building political power in the Latino community, Latino Victory has been a key voice in electing progressive Latino candidates up and down the ballot since 2014.

With a Latino CVAP of 50.2%, the 13th district is one of three in the Central Valley now protected under the Voting Rights Act. Despite Latinos representing a majority of the region’s population, the Central Valley has never elected a Latino member of Congress.

Latino Victory Fund released the following statement in announcing their endorsement of Arballo:

“Latino Victory Fund is proud to endorse Phil Arballo in the CA-13 primary. A community leader and small business owner, Phil is the best candidate to represent the Central Valley,” said Nathalie Rayes, President & CEO of Latino Victory Fund. “Phil Arballo is a key part of the next generation of Latino leadership representing our communities and will fight to make sure their voice is heard.”

Upon receiving news of the endorsement, Phil Arballo made the below statement:

“It’s an honor to have the endorsement of Latino Victory Fund, it’s about time that the Central Valley had a representative that looks like the communities that help make it a great place. Every election the same career politicians come courting the Latino community for their support, but then turn around and sell them out the first chance they get. I look forward to bringing a strong Latino voice to Congress and fighting for the needs of working families, not corporations or special interests.”

Arballo’s campaign has gained momentum in recent weeks ahead of ballots being mailed out on May 9th. He’s locked in key endorsements from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus BOLD PAC, SEIU California, CA Environmental Voters as well as elected leaders from throughout the district. The campaign also released its first ad, “Killing Us,” already spending over $100,000 on broadcast and cable to communicate with voters, drawing a direct comparison between himself and challenger Adam Gray.
